SA EXCLUSIVE: We flew to Madrid to interview IT director Andy Muschietti

On 29 August 2017, Channel24 flew to Madrid to meet the director of the much-anticipated soon-to-be released horror film, IT. Jean-Marie Korff sits down with Andy Muschietti to find out more about what went on behind-the-scenes of the Stephen King remake.

Cape Town – It’s a beautiful summer’s day as I arrive in Madrid, Spain. And as I’m enjoying the warmth on my skin after leaving a cold and rainy Cape Town behind, I can’t help but feel a bit of a cloud hang over me.

You see, I am in Madrid to interview Argentine director Andy Muschietti about his new film. And not just any ol' film. The first big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s acclaimed IT. Yes, that very scary clown who scarred all of us as children when we watched the 1990 miniseries starring Tim Curry. The one we all watched behind the couch with our hands over our eyes even though our parents forbid us to watch it. The one that gave us nightmares for weeks (or is that years?!).

And to make matters worse, this was waiting for me on my bed in my hotel room when I walked in…

But, being the massive Stephen King fan that I am, and a horror fan, of course, I soon forgot to be scared and started to get super-excited for the movie and the interview.

As I arrived at the hotel to interview Andy, this awaited me as I entered…

And what did Andy reveal about IT during our interview? You'll have to watch it below to find out.
