Los Angeles - Sylvester Stallone stars in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
The casting of the action movie legend was revealed at the San Diego International Comic-Con at the weekend when Marvel Studios premiered new footage from the film.
The 70-year-old actor only appears very briefly in the reel leading to speculation over what and how big a part he will play in the sequel, but director James Gunn has teased that Stallone has a small but significant role.
Gunn said: "It's a very, very key, important role. It's not a huge role. He's a great and key supporting actor."
The addition of the 'Rocky Balboa' star to the movie wasn't the only news shared at Comic-Con.
It was also revealed that Kurt Russell plays cosmic being Ego, the father of Peter Quill, aka Star Lord, portrayed by Chris Pratt.
Gunn wrote on Facebook of the casting: "My favourite movie as a small child was The Strongest Man in the World, so I'm glad to announce that, yes, Kurt Russell has joined our cast and, yes, he is more awesome a dude than I ever could have imagined."
Unlike Stallone, the 65-year-old actor did appear at Comic-Con alongside fellow Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cast members Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Rooker.
Filming has wrapped on the sequel and it is expected to be released on May 5, 2017.
