We reported earlier that the franchise will end after "one final trilogy" and that The Fate of the Furious (Fast 8) would be the beginning of the end. (Read more here.
Producer Neal Moritz has confirmed that the 10th film will be the last in the series.
In an interview with Collider he said that the plan is to make two more movies.
Speaking about the narrative and plot of the last films he said that there are some themes and ideas that still need fleshing out but that they do know how it will end.
"We have some big themes and things we’re talking about, we’re just not there in terms of where exactly we’re gonna go yet. We kind of have the ending point of the franchise, but we don’t know the in-betweens yet," he told Collider.
Meanwhile there are talks of a Fast and Furious spinoff starring Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson and Charlize Theron.
Deadline reports that the spinoff will see Johnson and Statham's characters form an unlikely alliance.
