This South African movie about a serial killer will freak you out

Cape Town – First time director Johnny Breedts' Die Ontwaking has been hailed a game changer for the Afrikaans movie genre.

The film won the Best Feature Film at the first Indie Karoo Film Festival in 2015

Based on the book Abel se Ontwaking by Chris Karsten, the thriller tells the story about a serial killer on the loose in the northern suburbs in Cape Town.

Abel (Gys De Villiers) owns a gallery which specialises in African masks and on the side he also collects tattoos belonging to female victims.

An inexperienced detective Ella Nesser (Juanita De Villiers) has been assigned to the case to track down the serial killer.

But Ella might just become Abel's next victim.

The film also stars: Paul Eilers, Tertius Meintjies, Gerard Rudolph and Armand Aucamp.
