Cape Town – We’ve always been fans of Charlie Human’s dark and twisted Apocalypse Now Now. The book is a helluva entertaining look into Cape Town's “supernatural underworld”.
Monster-porn peddler, Baxter Zevcenko’s plunge into the dark side makes for some pretty epic reading, and as it turns out also makes for a sick flick!
Charlie’s book has been turned into an epic proof-of-concept short film and has gained massive popularity after it was featured on Short of the Week, an online film festival.
The book is already available in 9 countries but the short film has catapulted it back into the spotlight thanks to the gritty Harry Potter meets District 9 vibe its got going.
Superbalist’s The Way of Us had a quick chat with Charlie about the short film adaptation and his exciting next chapter. During the interview Charlie revealed how the project came about: "Todd Brown, the Head of International Acquisitions for XYZ, was here for the Durban Film Festival. XYZ have done some great films and Todd was the producer on The Raid films.
"He picked up my books at the airport and started reading them on the way home (I like to think that Joey HiFi's killer cover art did a good job of convincing him that the novel might be a good fit). He got in contact and they optioned Apocalypse Now Now."
