We had a quick chat with Stiaan about his role.
1. Who do you play in the film and are there any similarities between you and your character?
I play Ben, the mechanic who lies about being a musician and has to start a band to impress a girl. If there are any similarities it's probably the fact that Ben likes to keep to himself, and chooses to have a small group of friends.
2. What’s the one thing that will surprise people about the film?
We set out to make an Afrikaans film that has a unique voice, and we believe that tonally it sets itself apart from other stories in that genre. Bouwer Bosch and Dawie de Jager did amazing work with the music and songs.
3. What was the most challenging thing during filming?
In South Africa time constraints because of limited resources are always your biggest challenge. You have to work very fast and collaborate between all the departments while still making sure you deliver a product of good quality.
4. Why should people go and see it?
The themes speak to a wide variety of ages and cultures and it caters to anybody who enjoys a good story about real people in real relationships. With the right balance between buddy comedy and romance, Sy Klink Soos Lente is not just a romcom for your girlfriend!
