Will Smith in talks to grant wishes in Aladdin

Cape Town – Will Smith is set to take on Robin Williams' iconic role. 

The Collateral Beauty actor is reportedly in talks to play the genie in Disney's live-action Aladdin remake. 

The film directed by Guy Ritchie and scripted by John August is based on the 1992 animation classic. 

The box office hit was the highest grossing movie in 1992 raking in $504m. It also went on to win two Academy Awards.

In addition to the remake Disney is also planning a prequel, Genies, which would focus on the backstory of the famous blue genie.
