Cape Town – Zac Efron is going over to the dark side for his new role.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Zac will play serial killer Ted Bundy.
The film titled Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will be told from the perspective of Bundy's girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer.
Kloepfer turned her longtime boyfriend in after years of denying his guilt. Bundy was executed in Florida in 1989 after being convicted of sexual assault and murder.
Producer Nicolas Chartier says Zac is perfect for the role.
"He can play both the depth and the charm that this guy had in equal measures, and which allowed him to manipulate these women in such a terrifying way," he told Deadline.
The film will be directed by Oscar nominee Joe Berlinger.
Production is set to get underway in October.
