What's it about:

The story of an aspiring British actress, Jodi Rutherford, who persuades Kobus Willemse, a boer from Brandfort, to prepare her for a role in a major film as an Afrikaans war heroine. In return, Jodi undertakes to arrange and direct the annual concert at the Willemse farm.

What we thought:

From the heart of South Africa, comes a film based on Afrikaans tradition set in stone.

Director, Henk Pretorius gives us a tale of an aspiring English actress (Jodi Rutherford) who persuades a South African farmer from Brandfort (Kobus Willemse) to prepare her for a role in a major Hollywood film as an Afrikaner war heroine.

As you would expect South Africa steals the heart of the foreigner and plans take a predictive turn of events.

With a mix of well-known faces internationally and locally the film accomplishes its relation to all cultures. Touching on many South African habits and ways of thinking, the farming family from Brandfort restores happiness in the simplicity of living.

While the humour, small innuendos and inside jokes will distract you from amateurish acting, Magdaleen Willemse (Brümilda van Rensburg) steals the spot light and manages to lead a good example for South African actors.

Although professionalism lacks, the film still manages to tell a beautiful story and will achieve the goal of teaching the rest of the world a piece of South African tradition.
