Maddy is an 11-year-old adventure junky, determined to follow in her mountain climbing father's (Sam Robards) footsteps. But tragedy strikes when a mountain climbing injury causes him to become paralyzed and the family needs $250,000 for an experimental operation that they cannot afford.
Even Maddy's mother (Jennifer Beals), a bank security systems designer, is incapable of receiving a loan from a bank where she had previously worked. Determined to save her father's life, Maddy convinces two of her friends to help her pull off a heist on the bank.
Together with Gus (Max Thieriot), a computer whiz, and Austin (Corbin Bleu), a mechanical genius, Maddy is ready to take on the bank, its villainous owner (Michael Des Barres) and the seemingly impenetrable bank vault suspended thirty feet in the air.
What the critics are saying:
"The young actors are irredeemably bland, and two of the adults are hammy enough to make James Brown seem controlled."- Mike Clark, USA Today"Well-made, straightforward and entertaining."- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times"It's a juicy premise, but the enactment is so dumbed-down that you couldn't possibly fault your jaded children for yawning and rolling their eyes."- Ellen Fox, Chicago Tribune
