Catwoman

Patience Philips (Halle Berry) just won't stand up for herself. A meek people-pleaser, she squanders her considerable artistic talent in a thankless job as a graphics designer for huge cosmetics company run by the tyrannical George Hedare (Lambert Wilson) and his icy supermodel wife, Laurel (Sharon Stone).

But Patience's quiet life is forever changed when she overhears a conversation revealing that Hedare's new miracle anti-aging product is a fraud. Caught in the wrong place at the worst possible time, Patience is murdered to keep Hedare's secret safe.

But all is not lost. Resurrected by mysterious forces, she awakens...and she doesn't come back alone. Now gifted with strength, agility and ultra-keen senses, she is no longer just Patience - she is also Catwoman, a seductive creature delicately balancing on the dangerously thin line between good and evil.

Revelling in her rebirth, Catwoman is soon on the prowl, eager to settle a few scores and have herself some long overdue fun. Sometimes you have to die to get a life.

What the critics are saying:

"The filmmakers have given great thought to photographing Berry, who looks fabulous, and little thought to providing her with a strong character, story, supporting characters or action sequences."
- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

"Directed by a Frenchman with the single, not uncatlike name of Pitof, Catwoman is a howlingly silly, moderately diverting exercise in high, pointless style."
- A.O. Scott, New York Times

"So much talent wasted. So much money squandered. So much opportunity missed."
- Winda Benedetti, Seattle Post-Intelligencer

You would think Halle Berry prancing around in a revealing leather catsuit would be enough to save any movie. Unfortunately not even Halle can perk up this wet rag of a film.

It was purrfect!!! even though it lacked depth, it had a kickass special effects and it was a definite "independent woman" scenario!!!

catwoman I thought the film was not as bad as critics made it out to be. Halle Berry looks fantastic, and the little cat-like things she did made me laugh. Sharon Stone is a lame villain, but the story is entertaining enough. The effects were average, but bearable. all in all good, mindless fun. halle purrs

Catwoman I'm not sure what life changing, profound, moral message the critics thought they were cheated out of with this movie. But when the film was over I felt that it did a good job of being a fun, entertaining, comic book brought to life. Which is what it should be. Personally I think people only started snubbing this movie when the critics TOLD them to. When it became "chic" to do so. Come on! We all went in to this film already knowing Batman had nothing to do with this story. It is was just Halle Berry doing a great job of portraying the feline dangerous beauty in a way that can be entertaining for all-If people will just give it a chance. I think the movie is worth watching more than once... Thanks, Halle Berry! Thumbs Up!
