Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

2009-03-17 12:40

The Fellowship's journey is coming to an end.

Sauron's forces have attacked Gondor's capital of Minas Tirith in his final siege against mankind. Watched over by a fading steward, the once great kingdom has never been in more desperate need of its king. But will Aragorn find the strength to become what he was born to be and rise to meet his destiny?

As Gandalf desperately tries to move the broken forces of Gondor to act, Theoden unites the warriors of Rohan to join in the fight. Even in their courage and passionate loyalty, the forces of men - with Eowyn and Merry hidden among them - are no match against the swarming legions of enemies raining down on the kingdom.

With each victory comes great sacrifice. Despite their great losses, The Fellowship charges forward in the greatest battle of their lifetime, united in their singular goal to keep Sauron distracted and give Frodo a chance to complete his quest.

Travelling across treacherous enemy lands, Frodo must rely increasingly on Sam and Gollum as The Ring continues to test his allegiance and, ultimately, his humanity.

What the critics are saying:

"...it's hard to imagine a more assured adaptation of the final volume of JRR Tolkien's fantasy masterwork."
- Nev Pierce, BBCi

"...there's an unmistakable transcendental quality to the film's images, and Jackson respects and authenticates Tolkein's core principles of sacrifice and spiritual ascendance."
- Ed Gonzalez, Slant

"...a fitting conclusion to an epic trilogy, that...has given a new generation of film-goers their 'Star Wars' moment."
- Matthew Turner, ViewLondon

Peter Jackson finishes his epic adaptation of JRR Tolkien's masterwork with a resounding bang. And at more than three hours long, few fans will leave disappointed.

It will send tingle down your spine Could have stuck to ending of the book a bit better (really wanted to see the battle of the Shire), but otherwise, a excellent translation of the book into film - especially the battle of Gondor! Peter Jackson is a genius! Love Actually

Astronomical No doubt about it,this is by far Peter Jackson's most powerful work ever. Each character is marvelously woven into the storyline without overshadowing the true nature of the book.An absolute tribute of excellence. Fans will both be entertained and inspired !

Just another typical Tom Cruise action film, with nothing to get too excited about. The film is loaded with action-film stereotypes and cheesy one-liners. Read More »

Hands of Stone

2016-10-14 07:38

Hands of Stone is a bland, unlikable portrayal of a real-life boxer that struggles to hit the highs of Rocky IV let alone Raging Bull or the original Rocky. Mark this one down as “for boxing fanatics only”. Read More »
