Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

What it's about:

Alex (voiced by Ben Stiller) and his crew of zoo escapees return for the third instalment of Madagascar. This time they find themselves in Europe and are desperate to get back to their "original habitat" of the New York Zoo. Their plans are side-tracked when they run into the determined Captain Chantel DuBois who has her eyes set on putting them, ironically, behind bars in France. She makes it her personal goal to track them across Europe as they move in with a circus that holds the promise of taking them back to the US.

What we thought:

In the latest Madagascar caper Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman move from Monaco in the south of France to Rome and back to States. The animals also run their own circus and plan their own moves, including the execution of daring stunts like launching themselves with rockets into the air as part of their act, without any human assistance.

This is the beauty of animation; anything imagined is possible. This movie is imagination personified.

The script brings in all the human emotions of love, jealousy, greed and determination to light using the various characters. Gloria (voiced by Jada Pinkett Smith) and Melman’s (voiced by David Schwimmer) love keeps growing beyond their obvious physical mismatch.

Alex's leadership is rivalled by the arrival of the Tiger Stefano and this leads to some confrontational scenes. These and many other moments in the movie serve as lessons to the human race in a way which only an animated movie can achieve.

We loved the first and second Madagascar because of the animals, the wit and sarcasm in the dialogue between the animal characters. We also loved the animated images which were able to entertain both the young and old. This movie delivers all the things that the previous movies delivered on... and maybe even more.

The scriptwriters have to be commended for upping their game and delivering a fresh script when many would have ran out of ideas to keep us entertained beyond the sequel.

The movie was shot in 3D animation which also gives the movie that extra bit of quality imaging and makes the experience so much more exhilarating. While the storyline and action has remained on par with the previous offerings.

Ducking away from an oncoming donkey while you watch the movie in a cinema makes one feel like they watching the best that the Madagascar franchise has had to offer so far.
