Made of Honor

2008-07-28 10:51
What it's about:

Tom Bailey (Patrick Dempsey) is in love with his best friend Claire (Michelle Monaghan). But Tom has a fear of commitment and refuses to admit the obvious – he should propose to Claire before she finds a less procrastinating suitor. When Colin, a rich Scotsman sweeps Claire off her feet and asks for her hand in marriage, Tom must witness her unquestioned happiness up close and personal – because she's chosen him to be her Maid Of Honour.

What the critics say:

"The tension between the leads is almost lost in the white noise of vindictive bridesmaids, fussy future in-laws and one too many dirty sex jokes, leading right up to the oh-so-predictable grand finale."
Dezhda Mountz, E! Online

"Even its clichés - including a dashing rescue on horseback - are trotted out with bland indifference."
Stephanie Zacharek,

"It remains a mystery why viewers - particularly female ones - continue to flock to wedding movies, particularly ones that paint all women as despicable, pathetic and/or man-hungry."
Alonso Duralde , Newsweek

"Like a shopworn wedding gown disguised with a new sash, Made of Honor feels recycled from top to bottom. That's because it's essentially a gender-swapped version of My Best Friend's Wedding."
Lael Loewenstein, Variety

"It's touching work that makes Dempsey's plastic sincerity look as thin as the film's posters."
Keith Phipps, Onion AV Club

"Made of Honor is a nice cookie-cutter comedy, no more and no less, but Dempsey, with his relaxed charm, and Monaghan, with her soft and peachy sensual spark, rise to the challenge of making friendship look like the wellspring of true love."
Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

Just another typical Tom Cruise action film, with nothing to get too excited about. The film is loaded with action-film stereotypes and cheesy one-liners. Read More »

Hands of Stone

2016-10-14 07:38

Hands of Stone is a bland, unlikable portrayal of a real-life boxer that struggles to hit the highs of Rocky IV let alone Raging Bull or the original Rocky. Mark this one down as “for boxing fanatics only”. Read More »
