Step Up 2 The Streets

2008-06-20 15:41
What it's about:

When rebellious street dancer Andie (Briana Evigan) lands at the elite Maryland School of the Arts, she finds herself fighting to fit in while also trying to hold onto her old life. When she joins forces with the school's hottest dancer Chase (Robert Hoffman) to form a crew of classmate outcasts to compete in Baltimore's underground dance battle The Streets, she ultimately finds a way to live her dream while building a bridge between her two separate worlds.

What the critics say:

"The film can't resist the inevitable overstatement."

"A worthy sequel - and its soundtrack [is] a worthy download."
Kit Bowen,

"For all of its ragin' dance moves and rebellious talk, is high-spirited and harmless. An MC at one dance contest declares, 'This ain't High School Musical!' Oh, but it is."
Kyle Smith, New York Post

"Step Up 2 has only a few points of correlation with its predecessor. It's also probably the single most racist movie that will be released by any major American studio in the first 10 years of the twenty-first century."
Ray Greene, Boxoffice Magazine

"A brainless piece of product that is so utterly devoid of anything not concerned with the idea of separating 12-year-olds from their allowance that it makes the Hannah Montana infomercial/movie seem like There Will Be Blood by comparison."
Peter Sobczynski,

"Dance scenes feel like a diversion, since the story, acting and dialogue are sadly lacking in originality and substance."
Claudia Puig, USA Today

Just another typical Tom Cruise action film, with nothing to get too excited about. The film is loaded with action-film stereotypes and cheesy one-liners. Read More »

Hands of Stone

2016-10-14 07:38

Hands of Stone is a bland, unlikable portrayal of a real-life boxer that struggles to hit the highs of Rocky IV let alone Raging Bull or the original Rocky. Mark this one down as “for boxing fanatics only”. Read More »
