Team America: World Police

Synopsis:

Combining the puppetry of the mid-1960s series Thunderbirds with action/disaster flicks produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Top Gun, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor), Parker and Stone tell the story of a small group of heroic figures that travels the globe protecting democracy and freedom against terrorism.

Their primary mission is to stop North Korean leader Kim Jong Il's peace conference, which is a ruse to allow him to attack the rest of the world with his weapons of mass destruction.

Team America must also take on F.A.G., the Film Actors Guild, which is supporting the peace conference, including such participants as Alec Baldwin, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, George Clooney, and other actors who have spoken out against the war in Iraq (but did not agree to be spoofed in the film).

What the critics are saying:

"It's a raucous ride peppered with laugh-out-loud moments, like Team America blowing up Paris 'in the name of freedom'..."
- Stella Papamichael, BBCi Film

"Team America is not as funny as the South Park movie, and some of its juvenile humor falls flat. But when Team America works, it falls squarely into the category of guilty pleasure."
- Claudia Puig, USA Today

"Like a cocky teenager who's had a couple of drinks before the party, [Parker and Stone] don't have a plan for who they want to offend, only an intention to be as offensive as possible."
- Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

The makers of South Park tackle America's War on Terror and pour liberal amounts of ridicule over both sides of the debate. The result is somtimes crude, often offensive and usually hilariously funny.
