Heavy D - The 44-year-old self-proclaimed "overweight lover" died on November 8 of a pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis. Shortly before his death he had a cameo role in the Ben Stiller comedy Tower Heist.

Huyser Burger - The Battery9 singer and artist died on December 5 after suffering liver and kidney failure. He was 39 years old.

Jeff Conaway - Grease's Kenickie died on May 27 after being in a medically-induced coma. He was 60 years old. Jeff had a very public battle with drug and alcohol addiction before his death.

Leon Botha - The artist and DJ was the world's oldest survivor of progeria, a genetic condition resulting in early ageing. Botha starred in Die Antwoord's popular video, Enter The Ninja. He died on June 5, one day after his 26th birthday.
