The Highest-Paid Actors in Hollywood - Forbes have revealed the 11 highest paid actors in Hollywood, with some very big names putting the most in the bank - Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Mark Wahlberg - but one huge name is conspicuously absent: Brad Pitt.
-
10 (tie). Robert Pattinson - $26.5 million - The Twilight Saga star has been in-demand towards the end of the vampire franchise's run, with roles in Water for Elephants and upcoming roles in Bel Ami and David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis.
-
10 (tie). Taylor Lautner - $26.5 million - The Twilight heartthrob earned the same as co-star Robert Pattinson, helped by his starring role in the action film Abduction. After the release of the final Twilight film Breaking Dawn Part 2, Taylor will be seen in Grown Ups 2 with Adam Sandler.
-
8. Mark Wahlberg - $27 million - The former rapper and underwear model scored a big win in Oscar-winner The Fighter and in thriller Contraband. His new comedy Ted, about a giant talking Teddy bear, is doing big business at the US box office.
-
7 (tie). Will Smith - $30 million - Always a big draw at the box office, Will Smith made a huge comeback this year with Men in Black 3 which has grossed $600 million so far. Up next are more sure-fire sequels: Hancock 2, Bad Boys 3 and I, Robot 2.
-
7 (tie). Johnny Depp - $30 million - Another Hollywood star going through a public split (he reportedly paid off ex Vanessa Paradis with $100m), Johnny is the only actor to star in three films that have crossed the $1 billion mark globally. So expect more Pirates of the Caribbean.
-
6. Sacha Baron Cohen - $30 million - The chameleon comedian wasn't particularly visible in 2010/2011 but bounced back with satirical comedy The Dictator (in SA cinemas 6 July), Martin Scorcese's Hugo and Madagascar 3. He'll also be seen in Les Misérables later this year.
-
5. Ben Stiller -
$33 million - With super-successful franchises like the Madagascar movies, Night at the Museum and Tower Heist under his belt, Ben Stiller remains a huge box office draw as he approaches his 50th birthday in 2015. And was handsomely rewarded for it.
-
4. Dwayne Johnson - $36 million - As the new recruit in Fast Five, he helped the movie become the highest grossing release of 2011. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island as well as the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation solidifies his position as a box office drawcard.
-
3. Adam Sandler - $37 million - His latest comedy Jack and Jill may be his worst effort yet (it 'won' 10 Razzie awards and was ridiculed by critics), but audiences still turn up in their droves to see Adam's gross-out films.
-
2. Leonardo DiCaprio - $37 million - There is a massive discrepancy between Tom Cruise at #1 and Leonardo, who raked it in despite the box office and critical let-down of Clint Eastwood-directed political drama J. Edgar. The Great Gatsby could push his earnings futher next year.
-
1. Tom Cruise - $75 million - Things may not be going well in Tom's personal life after Katie Holmes filed for divorce, but business is going REALLY well. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol was the biggest one yet, scoring $700m at the box office. A fifth film is in the works.
