Chad Saaiman – Chasing Melodies

2008-12-19 12:21

Local boy Chad Saaiman hails from the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, and brings an essence of coolness to the 'burbs. Songwriter, poet and musician - 25-year-old Chad has oodles of talent and heaps of sex appeal. Now the Kaapies have something other than the mountain to gloat about.

Chasing Melodies

Following in the footsteps of Loyiso and John Legend, Chad's first album is a smooth and competent mixture of smooth R&B and soul.  It also showcases his surprisingly sophisticated talent as a writer, a flair which catapults him ahead of the herd.

Songs about love, his adoring girlfriend and writing lyrics make the album both personal and relatable. Singles "Seeing Stars" and "Moving On" are doing well on local radio. Other highlights are "Won't Change", "Breakaway" and "Nothing Makes Me Feel This Way" (featuring up-and-coming musician Byron Clarke).

It's a first for StereoType Records, the new record label started by Chad, his brother Lee and Lester Hein and Ebrahim Mallum. Hailing themselves as the "next major force in South African Music" the four "driven musical souls" are determined to make an impact on the South African music scene.

Chad's been busy with promotions and interviews around town. Having his CD sell out and being the Winner of the Best of Cape Town award for Best Performing Artist means Chad is a hot commodity and on his way to being one of the best R&B artists in the country.

Thanks for the great review Ashlin, it makes all our hard work worthwhile when we see other appreciating the music we've created. Chad's album was very special for us as a label since it was our first full length project and I think our passion comes through on the record. We'll keep the music coming for as long as we can, making sure that it's quality all the while. Much love, Lester www.stereotyperecords.co.za
