But that's not the only part of her that she's celebrating. On "Vanity" her self confidence bitch-slaps you until you recognise! This sexually-charged girl-power anthem doubles up as a hot, club-thumping hit. Make sure to listen all the way to the end for a cute surprise.
Her self-assured attitude is cocky for sure. "If you don't like it f**k you" she declares on "Not Myself Tonight". But it's almost a disclaimer because she's really putting herself out there, while encouraging you to do the same. Who says you can't be a lady in the street, a freak in the bed AND a PTA mom? "All I Need" is clearly for Max, and it delivers a more controlled, relaxed vocal performance – it almost doesn't sound like Christina – to remind you of her dynamic ability. I'm so jealous right now.
Not only is she talented, she's so much fun, too! "My Girls" featuring the fierce Peaches is going to be a US Summer anthem. "Sex and 808s running through their dirty minds" perfectly sums up the collective mentality at any balmy pool party. It's a bit tame for Peaches, but her cameo definitely gives Christina some added street cred.
Christina's 'money shot' isn't raunchy, rampant lyrical dance porn pop ("Elastic Love"). It's the power ballad. Her voice is so perfectly clear and voluminous; it deserves the slow, soulful execution of a song like "You Lost Me". Her controlled vibrato here is unexpected genius. And you know what makes it that great? Even with her personal fairytale romance, she's utterly believable as a lovelorn victim of infidelity.
If you're having trouble reconciling the mistress with the mother, you know what you can do. Musicians are so often trying to prove who they really are, but they should just follow Christina's example. Be it all. If it confuses them, then you're mysterious. If it intrigues them, you're popular. If they hate it, you're something to talk about and if it's the truth, no one can take it away from you.
