Dedee - Uded’Usebenzile

2007-10-04 14:19
Contrary to what the title Uded’Usebenzile (Daddy worked hard) suggests this album sounds more like hand-me-downs from late 90s/early 2000s kwaito stars, only without the slamming beats. This album doesn’t sound like anything ready for a release. Dedee has no direction whatsoever. His lyrics range from singing about being a self-starter to infidelity to love to celebrating 2010 World Cup. In some songs you can barely workout what he’s on about. If anybody knows what he’s saying in "Os’Mege", please let us know.

Half-way through this painfully ‘Fong Kong’ kwaito he tries his luck with some dull ‘house’ tunes. We’re not sure whether he’s confused about which crowd he wants to play for or whether he just wants to make a quick buck by catering for both genres!

Remember in the early 2000s when Senyaka and Doc Shebeleza were hip and happening? When their songs, "Shesa Mpama" and "Ingagara" were pumping, top-of-the-chart kwaito tracks? Well, Dedee (Daddy) thinks he can create the same hype. He’s imitated Doc Shebeleza’s distinctive wailing sound backed by sharp vocals, Senyaka’s ‘screaming’ effect, and Mandoza’s raspy voice.

Error! Tiisetso, check your facts first before you publish information. One simple error, you said "Remember in the early 2000s when Senyaka and Doc Shebeleza were hip and happening? When their songs, "Shesa Mpama". Corrections, this collabotation was not of Senyaka and Doc Shebeleza. It was between Senyaka and Kamazu.
