Cape Town – Late last year Die Heuwels Fantasties released their new album, Ja.Nee.Lekker.
The album was created in the stillness and beauty of the Lowveld as the guys escaped the city hustle and bustle.
And we must say the songs on the album reflect the calmness of the Lydenberg area.
The first couple of tunes we listened to were Doen Net Wat Jy Wil, Sy and Voelvry and they definitely have an American influence.
We were particularly interested in Kom Haal My where we can hear sounds of an American flute being played in the background where the group used it from an exhibition they visited on their last adventure to America.
Our favourite song has to be Shangri-la, which with its chilled beat and stripped down sound make us feel like we all should be taking long drives.
It also happens to be the first single off the album and the music video, which was shot in California on a road trip, perfectly sums up the feel of the song.
The album is made up of 10 songs and is packed with songs that will get stuck in your head. It fulfills the need of all their fans with its electro pop style meets acoustic rock sound.
In addition, a vinyl record titled, Deuntjies vir die Draaitafel, was also created as a collectors-item with the group's most popular songs.
If you're a fan of the group, we suggest you get both!
