Ntando - Uhambo lwam

Yes, the man still sings about love and getting married. After all Ntando means love. And yes he’s won several awards and sold loads of CDs. But this time around he raises the bar. He demands that you listen to what he’s saying by fusing dancehall, reggae and traditional African sounds. Originality reigns supreme in this game! The only thing that’s consistent is strictly singing in his mother tongue: Xhosa. But what’s really cool about this afro-pop cat is that he touches on pertinent topics such as Steve Biko’s legacy on the infectiously addictive “Ndinemibuzo”, on karma in “Ndiyoyika” and his journey as a musician and as a man in “Uhambo lwam”. None of that monotonous ‘meeting at the river’ or ‘you’re as beautiful as the sea and the mountains’ crap!

Maybe it’s because this album is more personal. Or maybe it’s just that he’s more experienced. Or it could be the move from one record label to another. Ag, whatever it is, it’s sounding pure, sincere and simply off the hook! Ntando’s really upped his game by illustrating that he’s not complacent. That’s why he’s known as Afro-pop’s top exponent. And his journey is far from being over.

- Gugu Mkhabela
Some of you may think that Afro-pop is the nouveau bubblegum music that plays on ethnicity to make a quick buck. Just formulaic wedding love songs and December-jol anthems. Yes, some of it is! And if you’re one of those who scoffed at Ntando’s music as falling into the same category, you might want to reconsider after listening to his latest album, Uhambo lwam (My Journey). Ntando’s on to something and it’s certainly not bubblegum.

TR ntando's music is the "bom"he touches every soul that dedicates itself in listening to his music,i think him singing in personal terms makes his music worth litening and sings about reality and the truth.I think what inspires him is the evry day happening in all our lives be it love or what so ever.my greatest wish is to meet him personally but if that does not happen well i will still continue to support him.if one person may try to discourage him he should know that there are a whole lot of people out there and should continue with his "journey"

Amazing Young Man Ntando has faced alot of criticism and negativity from the media lately but amongst other things, one of the things i love about this brother is his humbleness. Yes, he has made his mistakes, after all, he is human! But despite all of that, you dont hear spats betweenn him and journalists. He remains true to himself and those who believe in him. On his music- yes, its different but even through that it remains Proudly South African. Ntando my brother, keep up the good work, believe it or not, some people actually mean it when they say they look up to you. I salute you for all your success @ such a young age. Great things are bound to come your way, keep up the faith and keep smiling. Im behind you all the way!!
