R&B Hits - The Ultimate Hit Collection

The CD has all the right ingredients, but put together its something else. One minute you are bopping to upbeat club jams Kelly’s “I’m a Flirt”, Omarion’s “Ice Box” and Monica’s “Every Time Tha Beat Drop” and another minute you are unwinding to Lira’s soulful, feel good song. And then you find yourself swaying to sensitive, lyrical and sentimental songs like Musiq Soulchild’s “Buddy”, Joe’s “If I was your man”, and John Legend’s “Heaven”. They say diversity is always a good thing, but this compilation is more a lucky packet that’s past its sell-by-date.

Mix soulful tunes with hip-hop disguised as R&B. Add Sunday afternoon chill session music. Now throw in R Kelly’s Bump ‘n Grind and a dash of Cassie’s stale booty-pop, “Ditto”. Oh and let’s not forget to blend in Ciara’s ‘do, do, do’ song. Does this sound like a good recipe? Nope. We are not convinced.
