Various - Pin Pop Party

Pin Pop Party (sic) is perfect for sticking in the car for a summer beach drive-by, or for diversifying the hits selection on your iPod playlist. Yes, rock fans, I’m talking to you - tunnel vision is only attractive if you’re riding a wave.

True fans of Mzansi’s finest party artists will probably have no real use for this album – the cover is repulsive, the title is embarrassing, and the few dance remixes the selectors have included aren’t really reason enough to buy it.
But the compilers and sponsors have chosen the tracks well – Ntando, Malaika, Teargas and Skwatta Kamp and HPP all get the nod. When it comes to playing one track after another, it doesn’t get much better. There’s a merciful absence of stupid schmaltzy ballads and a clear focus on sexy tracks that are likely to lead to a party in your pants. Or your mouth, I guess.

Shame it’s not a DVD.

A CD sponsored by a lollypop brand? Actually, yes. And this collection – subtitled “a party in your mouth” – has it’s uses.
