I rate the Parlotones very highly

I rate the Parlotones very highly. They do have a distinctive (some might say unconventional) sound, which is good in my opinion, so many bands sound very samey!

I did the spadework of giving them a good listen before going to see them live, always a good idea.

Their live shows have improved enormously. The ones at d'Aria in Durbanville in 2011 (outdoors) and later that year at Grandwest were wonderful, vibrant and musical.

There is no reason why this can't translate to worldwide success, people everywhere like to dance and be happy.

My only reservation is that their best songs, certainly in terms of powerful dance orientated songs are mostly the older songs. So they will be able to wow new audiences on the basis of their back catalogue, but to achieve major success they will need to follow up with strong new songs.

Here's hoping, it will be a great ride. Downside of success will be us in SA never getting to see them again at smaller venues like Grandwest.
