Live: Peachy Keen (Shot A Man video launch)

2011-08-15 14:50
Obs Cafe, August 13 - Greeted with Sailor Jerry cocktails of rum and sultry dressed sailors, it was only a matter of time until someone’s clothing came off.

Luckily (for everyone) the seductive striptease was left to the beauties that are Black Orchid Burlesque who performed a cabaret resurgence of the Victorian era. “Thank you very much, we are The Pits.”

A definitely different way to end a set, with infinite insinuations, but this newest band to the Obs block define themselves as Psycho Rock n’ Roll and as they opened the evening’s  intimacy of the innate Obs Café, their music tapped into a generation and derived from an entire antiquity of historic Rock ‘n’ Roll.

The nautical pin-ups who front Peachy Keen introduced the launch of their first video, Shot A Man, as it played across screens throughout the venue and following the applause and cheery cries of fans they burst into what may have possibly been their most energised and invigorating set to date.

The Great Apes were up last and their time slot couldn’t have been more appropriate as the absolute craziness of their abrasive Rock was lapped up by all those who refused to leave the dance floor and admit the night needed to end.

Loads of rum- I mean fun - was had by all.
