RHCP 9/10, security 0/10

Where to begin!

We arrived at the venue at 17:15 but only got to our seats around 19:40 as we were sent pillar to post to find our gate.

We arrived and were told to enter the stadium at entrance M near gate 21.

After waiting in the horde of people for nearly an hour we were told at the turnstiles that this entrance was for standing, VIPs and Golden circle only and that we had to go though entrance K, where we had been in the beginning!

After fighting through the crowed of probably 2000 people, to get out of the queue, we eventually got back to gate K and was confronted with a queue that stretched almost back to the bridge.

By 19:10 we were about 40 meters from the gate when the organisers closed it, due to congestion! This caused problems as some ticket holders attempted to enter at another gate causing a stampede. That gate was also closed shortly after.

We eventually got through entrance K to discover we could not get to gate 21 due to the fencing that had been erected, after waiting in yet another queue, we were told by security that it did not matter we could still enter through gate 18 even though our tickets stated gate 21. And so had to enter through gate 18.

We eventually filtered down to 4 lines, there were two male and two female security guards, one in each line, so if you were a guy  in the girls line you did not get searched, BAD IDEA!

I was not searched by security and once inside had to make my way virtually around the entire stadium to get to gate 21 and then to our seats.

Throw us a bone

By this time we had missed most of Die Antwoord, which was just as well as the sound was terrible and we could hardly hear a word from the performers.

There were people dancing on the stairs and despite securities repeated requests for them to return to their seats they did not, one guard got physical with a female and was almost beaten up - as a result the security guard left his post.

Later there was a fight that broke out with one person almost being thrown off the balcony, when we looked for the security guards they were all in the lobby talking.

There were no toilet rolls in the gents toilets, no soap and half the wash hand basins had no water.

I have been too many concerts but this hands down was the most disorganised mess I have ever had to face.

If I had not been waiting to see the RHCP since last year, I probably would have taken the knock and just gone home.

Why did they have only one, 3 meter gate open for nearly 40 thousand people to get through? (one for seated ticket holders and one for standing, at the other end of the stadium)

Why where there no signs? Putting a small 1 meter by .5 meter banner at chest height does not constitute signage! It should have been much bigger and displayed above head height!

The only two signs there were poorly located, one said general admission, the other golden circle both directing you in the same direction. VERY INFORMATIVE!

Throw us a bone we need the info!

RHCP score 9/10
Sound 4/10
Security 0/10
