Red Bull Beat Battle: Qualifier Round-up

A huge shout out to all the crews that participated in the qualifying rounds of this year's Red Bull Beat Battle.

There were some jaw-dropping performances and unreal stunts on the Beat Battle floor.

Here's a breakdown of what has been seen over the past six weeks:

Of the 566 dancers making up 114 crews, Johannesburg rocked out 52 crews and 252 dancers, Cape Town entered 6 crews and 32 dancers, Durban had a great turnout with 16 crews and 86 dancers, Bloemfontein impressed us with tricks and stunts from 9 crews and 42 dancers, Port Elizabeth threw down with 5 crews and 26 dancers while Pretoria turned out in full force with 26 crews and 128 dancers.

A variety of genres and styles were presented.

Hip hop took centre stage but iSbhujwa and Pantsula were also very popular this year. Props to the new styles which gave Red Bull Beat Battle an exciting fresh perspective.

Krump: 7 crews
Kwasa Kwasa: 7 crews
Freestyle: 4 crews
Bboy: 2 crews
Biza: 1 crew
House: 2 crews
Bonjwa: 1 crew
Breaking: 1 crew
Gum Boot: 1 crew
Kwaito: 2 crews
Pop & Lock: 1 crew
Techno Fusion: 1 crew
Kasi Tap: 1 crew
