I want to share a little story of an ordinary legend that touched an ordinary man....
My husband has been a dedicated follower of Rodriguez since 1996. He went to watch him in 1997 at Bellville Velodrome. When I met him he introduced me to this amazing songwriter.
In 2008, my husband was confined to a wheelchair due to kidney disease.... that same year I took him to watch Rodriguez at the Barnyard in Cape Town.
The last few years have been tough for him, but he never gave up on his recovery, he has learnt to walk again and has done a full circle in his health.
Last night we went to watch Rodriguez, my husband giving this man a standing ovation was not just because of his pure gift of music but was to say thank you for helping him pull through his recovery.
My husband shared dark and good days with this musical poet because of his true sense of what life is all about.
