Rock stars are fickle and funny creatures. As soon as they’ve hit their stride as gods of the stage and small screen, commanding the hormonal ebb and flow of female fans and bringing forth the highest emotional peaks their male fans may ever experience, they become prone to restlessness that usually points at a creative stalemate.

Just how do they keep their creativity alive and well when the old ways of knocking out the big tunes don’t work any more?

Like Donald Trump marketing his own brand of bottled water in an attempt to extend his megalomaniacal empire, the sharp-minded musician usually sees the benefit of re-imagining his career under another guise entirely.

And since the recording industry is likely the only one a musician knows, a rock side project is usually embarked upon as an opportunity to learn new things about music and why they made a career out of it in the first place.

Side. Pet. Vanity. Add the word ‘project’ to each of these and you have the hottest trend in music today.
