Jazz time: More musicians added to line up

Ladysmith Black Mambazo are in such high demand internationally, Cape Town International Jazz Festival organisers have been trying to pin them down for several years. They've finally succeeded. LBM is set to headline the 2007 Jazz Festival. This announcement comes on the heels of LBM's recent nomination for the Grammy.

Soul and jazz diva Randy Crawford is also back for a second time to headline, with jazz legend Joe Sample accompanying. The impressive line up of South African and international musicians also includes Sibongile Khumalo, Concord Nkabinde, The Rudimentals, Stimela, Lira , Jack DeJohnette, Intercontinental with Danilo Perez, Jerome Harris, Byron Wallen and Jason Yarde, The Caribbean Jazz Project featuring Paquito D’Rivera, Dave Samuels and Andy Narell, Vivid Afrika, Esther Miller featuring special guest Jeremy Pelt, Bev Scott-Brown,Bruce Muirhead Quartet, Fethi Tabet, Shannon Mowday, Diego Amador, Standard Bank National Youth Jazz band, Nils Landgren, Hilton Schilder, Bheki Khoza, Lee Konitz quartet, Tortured Soul and Gerri Allen Trio featuring Jimmy Cobb.

Additional artists have been named in the Cape Town International Jazz Festival line up. Senegalese harmonica-player guitarist and singer Ismaël Lô, leads the pack with a performance that will conincide with the release of his latest album, Sénégal. Other additional artists include US-guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, South Africa’s guitarist Madala Kunene, saxophonist Ezra Ngcukana, vocalist Mpho Skeef, South African saxophonist Khaya Mahlangu, and Cape Town-based band Tucan Tucan.
