Sounds of Africa - Spier African Music Festival

2006-12-13 09:58

Despite the windy conditions, people still showed up in droves, kicked off their shoes and enjoyed some of Africa’s best.

Mali-born musician, Salif Keita - known as The Golden Voice of Africa - topped the star-studded bill on Saturday. Keita blends traditional sounds from Mali with other West African influences and styles from Cuba, Spain and Portugal.

Mafikizolo, an Afro-pop duo comprising Nhlanhla Sibongile Mafu and Theo Kgosinkwe, beefed up the programme with their marabi-style music, slick clothes and dancing.
