Top 10 Kelly Clarkson Songs

1. Since U Been Gone
When I listen to this song, I imagine drumming the shit out my ex-boyfriend's drums, breaking the snare and then kissing his best friend. Kelly makes breaking up so much easier.

2. The Trouble With Love Is
Kelly was still fairly new in her career when she sang this song for the Love Actually soundtrack. I love the movie. I love Kelly. So naturally I've got a soft spot for this soppy love song.

3. Already Gone
Aaw, Kelly's growing up. While many of her hits deal with being angry at the guy in her life, here she's ready to acknowledge that sometimes, there's no reason for why things don't work out. We're proud of you, girl.

4. Miss Independent
This bold, sexy, girl-power anthem was my first experience of Kelly. Her confidence oozes from every line thanks to those powerful lungs and an incredible range. It's a perfect getting-dressed-for-a-party tune.

5. A Moment Like This
Kelly's first single post-American Idol. It's special because when she sings it, it's not about a boy. It's about the amazing career that lies ahead of her, and look what good luck that brought!

6. Breakaway
A significant song for Kelly. “I spread my wings and learn how to fly” is as much about her rocking second album as it is about putting that ‘Idols winner’ tag behind her once and for all. It’s a bold statement song that took Kelly to new very high heights.

7. Because of You
When relationships go bad for Kelly, they go nuclear. Here broken heart has been reduced to scar tissue, and fear has replaced what was once pure and idealistic. An absolutely heartbreaking song with a particularly moving vocal by Kelly.

8. Behind these Hazel Eyes
Woah! That big drum-heavy intro. That yearning, aching chorus “Broken up deep inside, but you won’t get to see the tears I cry”, she sings, and you can just about see the mascaraed tear tracks on her face. Stay strong, Kelly! He doesn’t sound worth it anyway.

9. Sober
Kelly went really dark on My December, the album her record company tried to disown. But this is a singer who can do any style of music - R&B, pop, ballads, rock – and still make you sit up and listen. And she may have picked up a few tips from Pink along the way.

10. I Do Not  Hook Up
It's all in that title – about as empowering for young women as Pat Benatar’s Love is a Battlefield, or Cindy Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. And just as catchy!
