“Girlie” Cleo faces gay storm
There’s a pink cloud hanging over DJ Cleo – he has been accused of being homosexual, reports Sunday World. Kwaito star Brickz, who has just parted ways with DJ Cleo’s label Will of Steel Productions, is his chief accuser, saying that the award-winning producer has been sexually harassing male musicians, spanking them on the buttocks and caressing their chins “as if they were girls”. Afro-pop singer Mavo agrees: “He can’t be straight, that I’m sure of. He must just come out of the closet and nobody will judge him.” These gay rumours are not new to Cleo. Last year, actress and pop kitten Kelly Khumalo told Ukhozi FM that DJ Cleo spanked her ex Prosper Mkwaiwa’s buttocks in front of her. But Cleo has come out guns blazing, accusing Brickz of being too high on drugs to get his story straight, and has told Mavo to “get a life”. Not surprisingly, DJ Cleo has fraught relationships with both artists: Brickz was reportedly forced to leave Cleo’s label because of alleged drug abuse, and Mavo was fired after “stealing perfume”. It all sounds like a cat-fight with no end in sight. As everyone from Michael Jackson to Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz can attest, gay rumours usually stick like glue.
