5 quick questions to new pop talent Alexandra May

Cape Town – Today sees the release of new pop talent Alexandra May’s debut single, Amazing.

Alexandra, 18, has been wowing the South African public since the age of 11 in a number of high profile theatre productions, dedicating her heart and soul to the arts at a very young age.

We asked her 5 quick questions to get to know her a bit better:

Where are you from and when did music start for you?

I was born in Durban and moved up to Joburg when I was young. My family is musical. At 7 years old I said I wanted to start singing, so I entered competitions and did theatre productions as a teenager. Then at 14 or 15 I decided I wanted a career in the industry so I starting working on my music and my voice with a goal in mind - to become a recording artist.

What is the one thing no one knows about you?

I love my childhood toys - Mini horses, dogs and cars. But only my very close friends know that I collect Schleich Horses. They each have names and I have some of them displayed in my bedroom.

Your new single, what is the song about and what inspired it?

My single, Amazing, is about knowing yourself and what you want in a person. It's about meeting and knowing this amazing person, and telling them and the world how you feel about them. I love different types of music but I love vibey, pop music. So my love for pop, young and happy music inspired this song.

Who are your musical influences?

I love Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and Celine Dion because they're strong woman who believe in themselves and their music. I also love The 1975 and the Foxes.

What can people expect to hear and see from you in the future?

David Gresham Records and I are working on my EP, and we're working to release it soon. But for the moment, I hope that people enjoy Amazing!

You can buy Amazing here on iTunes.
