9 pics that show exactly what went down at the CMA Awards

Nashville - The Country Music Association Awards continued to show its love for Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton on Wednesday night while giving a nod to new duo Florida Georgia Line and doling out a few more awards to Taylor Swift.

Lambert won her fourth straight female vocalist of the year award while her husband, Shelton, won album of the year and male vocalist - a category he also won for the fourth year in a row. Florida Georgia Line took too early awards to join Swift, Keith Urban and Tim McGraw atop the  winners list.

"I really didn't think this was going to happen this year," Lambert said before thanking each of the other nominees.

The husband and wife have been favorites of the CMA's 6 000 voters for the last three years and Wednesday was no different.

Shelton's album of the year win for Based on a True Story was a bit of a surprise, a year after taking entertainer of the year.

Here's 9 pics that show exactly what went down at the CMA Awards:

1) There were, of course, a lot of cowboy hats. As seen displayed here on the head of Tim McGraw. The lovely Faith Hill went for the Grecian goddess look.

2) Blake Shelton won the big awards. Here he poses backstage with his awards for male vocalist of the year and album of the year.

3) Taylor Swift looked absolutely stunning like always! She also took home an award like always.

4) Keith Urban was there but no sign of Nicole Kidman. At least he wore killer boots!

5) Short dresses were a thing as seen here on Kelly Clarkson:

6) Another short dress on Kacey Musgraves:

7) Carrie Underwood, host of this year's CMA Awards, embraced the "short" theme by rocking some pretty hot short shorts on stage.

8) Awkward! Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley tried to copy Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke's VMA performance.

9) Finally. The highlight of the show. Luke Bryan's ass. We love us some cowboy ass!
