Cape Town - Attie van Wyk of Big Concerts has responded to a hoax that trended on Twitter on Wednesday, claiming that pop star Adele would be touring SA in November.
"It's absolute nonsense," the Big Concerts CEO told Channel24, when we asked him about the Someone Like You singer's rumoured visit. "I have no idea who would have started up that rumour or why."
The initial posts on Twitter were accompanied by a link to a "flyer" advertising the show, which contained M-Net and Big Concerts logos, but van Wyk laughed off the claim.
"We are constantly in touch with Adele's agents, who happen to represent a number of other artists as well – but unfortunately SA is just not part of her plans for the immediate future."
Asked if he would like to see Adele visit SA, he said: "I wish! And for fans, I'd say that we would never go on sale with a show that size on such short notice (November 19).
"We would have at least five months of tickets being available if we took on a show like that."
