Los Angeles - Adele is being lined up to perform at the closing ceremony of the Olympics. The Rolling in the Deep hitmaker - who won six Grammys and two BRITs earlier this year - is among a host of stars who have been approached, according to music director David Arnold who has promised the London event will feature lots of "fabulous" British music. He said: "Without saying we have booked anyone, it goes from Elgar to Adele. It is not just a pop concert, it is not just a classical rendition. It will be everything that we think is fabulous about British music."It is believed the London Symphony Orchestra will provide musical backing to the performers.
Paid £1Previous acts suggested for the big event include Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones and the Spice Girls - although the girl group have since denied they will be taking part. All those who are taking part will be paid just £1 to make their contracts legally binding, according to costume designer Es Devlin. She said: :The performers are just happy to be asked to perform at the closing ceremony. Plus, we just didn't have the budget to pay them."The London Olympics begin on July 27.
