American songwriter collaborates with South African songbirds to showcase local talent

Cape Town – Postal Service and Bright Eye’s chanteuse Laura Burhenn is winging her way down to the rainbow nation for a tour with a difference across the country.

The Mynabirds frontwoman is joining forces with South African superstar Inge Beckmann of Lark fame and rising stars Lucy Kruger, Shotgun Tori, Faye Oakes and Eve Rakow in different cities on tour. Laura and the organisers of the tour will pick two underprivileged singers who will collaborate with her on stage.

It’s a lot like a new version of The Voice or Idols but (a lot) better because it’s about changing two people’s lives instead of one winner.

For those of you haven’t heard of Laura here is a video of The Mynabirds doing their song Disarm:

Inge Beckman will also perform on the Cape Town leg of the tour.

Certain events that make up the tour are also organised differently: in order for the show to take place a certain number of would-be attendees pledge their presence. Innovative, hey?

The live gigs are hitting up a whole bunch of venues so get to the pledge/tickets page and show your support for young talent in South Africa.
