Johannesburg - Singer Anneli van Rooyen ran into financial difficulties at the last minute which stopped her from undergoing important facial surgery on Friday.
She would have undergone surgery to lessen nerve pain which she has been suffering from for three years.
The operation is only one of many she had to undergo in the past three years because of a "disastrous procedure she underwent on 23 October 2007 to counter trigeminal neuralgia".
Her facial nerves were permanently damaged during the procedure. In addition, the right side of her jaw was dislocated..
Van Rooyen said on Wednesday that her medical fund has informed her that they will not be paying for the implanted device that could relieve her pain.
"I decided to tackle an operation which was meant to be done later to restore damage to my jaw first. This procedure will result in regaining normal use of my jaw. The operation will be done [at the] end of this month. "
Although her vocal chords are not affected, Van Rooyen could barely sing for the last few years because of the pain.
