Cape Town - The City of Cape Town has announced that international artist Annie Lennox will be joining Cape Town’s Madiba memorial event at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday.
Lennox is a singer, songwriter, activist and 46664 ambassador and founded the SING campaign. She is also married to South African Dr Mitch Besser.
Lennox will be joining other local acts such as Johnny Clegg, Freshlyground and Ladysmith Black Mambazo in honouring Madiba at the event, titled Nelson Mandela: A Life Celebrated.
The Bala Brothers, Allou April, and Carla Diamond as well as various choirs will also be performing and Shado Twala will be the MC.
Former Springbok rugby player Francois Pienaar; City of Cape Town Executive Mayor, Alderman Patricia de Lille; and Premier of the Western Cape, Helen Zille, will all share their favourite memories and impressions of Madiba.
