Arctic Monkeys frontman wants a hairdresser on tour

2014-01-04 12:00

Los Angeles - Arctic Monkeys' frontman Alex Turner wants to hire a personal hairdresser to go on the road with the band.

The singer is well-known for his Elvis style quiff and joked that he needs a hair stylist to maintain the look for when they start touring in a private jet.

Speaking to the Illinoise Entertainer, he said: "Hopefully, we'll get to the point - on the way to our private jet - where we tour with our own hairdresser.

"'That's the next rung on the ladder. So what we really need is someone who can look after the wardrobe and cut hair - maybe I can take this opportunity to advertise for that!"

As well as headlining T In The Park 2014, Arctic Monkeys will play two huge outdoor shows in London's Finsbury Park this year, on Friday 23 May and Saturday 24 May, with support to come from Tame Impala, Miles Kane and Royal Blood.

Alex, 27, previously revealed that his '70s hairstyle came about by wanting to "one-up" his bandmates.

He said: "I am the singer after all, and you've gotta be a dick sometimes. I saw an Elvis picture where he had the curl, and I thought, 'Maybe I could do that'. Once you have the haircut, certain clothes just start to look right, don't they?

"All the boys in the band got shorter hair, and I thought, 'What can I do to one-up them?"
