Arctic Monkeys give Glasto another go

Glastonbury Festival 2013

Glastonbury - Arctic Monkeys will headline the Glastonbury Festival's iconic Pyramid Stage tonight and singer Alex Turner hopes their performance will be better than their 2007 headlining slot.

"Glastonbury is like this old wise wizard, or something, kind of controls the tides of the rock 'n roll universe, and I perhaps understand that a little better this time, I've got a respect for it, you know.

"Maybe that wise wizard's got a respect for us now, don't know. Hopefully he'll turn the speakers on or whatever, turn us up a bit this time," he told BBC Radio 1.

'Otherworldly' festival

He admitted the 'Crying Lightning' group didn't really get the festival during their first headline appearance but feel they have grown enough to embrace it this time round.

He added, "It's kind of like an otherworldly quality that Glastonbury festival has, that can't be explained, to someone that hasn't experienced the thing.

"At that time when we last played it, I'd never been there before, I didn't really know what it was, you know, and now I think I've been like every year it's been on since then, and somehow I feel that makes me better equipped to play it this time, and all others really."

The Rolling Stones will headline on tomorrow night, while Mumford & Sons will close the event on Sunday.
