Brit Awards nominations revealed

London - Emeli Sande leads the 2013 Brit Awards nominations.

The 25-year-old singer - who won the BRITs Critics' Choice Award in 2012 - was nominated for British Female, British Album for Our Version Of Events and her songs Next To Me and the collaboration with Labrinth, Beneath Your Beautiful are up for British Single.

She said: "It's a really good feeling. It feels great, a bit scary, because you never know, you might not win anything.

"It feels great to have this acknowledgement and recognition. And to come back here after winning the Critics' Choice and to be nominated is really, really cool."

At the BRIT Award Nominations announcement at London's Savoy Hotel on Thursday, Emeli also presented Tom Odell with the 2013 Critics' Choice Award and spoke about how much winning the award meant to her last year.

She said: "This time last year, I was excited but very nervous. I wish now I had just enjoyed it. He's such a wonderful musician and it's great to pass it on to him."

Posthumous nomination

Mumford & Sons and Alt-J also received three nominations each with Rita Ora, Muse, Plan B, Jessie Ware, Ben Howard, Coldplay, Paloma Faith and Olly Murs all up for two awards.

Rihanna will battle it out for the International Female gong with Alicia Keys, Cat Power, Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift while Jack White, Gotye, Michael Buble, Frank Ocean and Bruce Springsteen are all up for International Male.

The Rolling Stones are nominated in the British Live Act category against Coldplay, Muse, Mumford & Sons and The Vaccines. The nomination makes them the only act to be nominated in both this year's awards and at the first BRIT Awards in 1977.

Amy Winehouse received a posthumous nomination in the British Female Solo category and will go up against Jessie, Paloma, Emeli and Bat For Lashes.

Muse, Robbie Williams, Emeli, Mumford & Sons, Ben Howard and One Direction will all perform at the ceremony which will be presented by James Corden on Wednesday 20th February 2013 at The O2 Arena, London.
