Los Angeles - Bruno Mars' mother has died after suffering a brain aneurysm.
The Locked Out Of Heaven hitmaker's 55-year-old mother Bernadette Hernandez passed away at the Queens Medical Centre in Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday after being rushed there in a critical condition on Friday night.
Bernadette, who emigrated from the Philippines to work as a hula dancer, was originally reported to have had a massive heart attack but sources have told gossip website TMZ.com that she died from a brain aneurysm.
The 27-year-old Grammy-winner has been very open about his love for his mother in the past and even wrote a song called I Love You Mom about her, in which he refers to her as a "superstar" and "my favourite girl".
Name tattooed
Bruno, whose real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, also has Bernadette's name tattooed on his shoulder.
Family friend Anita Sojot previously said that the family were gathering to be at Bernadette's bedside, suggesting that her condition was serious.
She said: "Bernadette is in hospital and the grandkids are all here, I'm looking after them. The family is on its way here right now and we are going to discuss what to do next."
Bruno, who is set to kick off on his Moonshine Jungle world tour in Washington DC on 22 June, has yet to comment.
