CT gets extra Dave Matthews Band show

Cape Town – Big Concerts confirmed on Tuesday that a second Cape Town date has been added to the Dave Matthews Band tour to South Africa due to an overwhelming demand for tickets.

The Dave Matthews Band will now also be performing on Sunday, 1 December in Cape Town at the Grand Arena.

This announcement comes after tickets for the first Cape Town date on 30 November sold out in just two days.

An American rock band started by South African-born David John Matthews, the band consist of Carter Beauford (drums), Jeff Coffin (saxophone), Stefan Lessard (bass), Dave Matthews (vocals, guitar), Tim Reynolds (guitar), Rashawn Ross (trumpet) and Boyd Tinsley (violin).

Born in Johannesburg, Dave Matthews went to high school at St Stithians College but moved to New York in 1986. This will be his very first performance in South Africa.

Known for hits like Crash into Me, Too Much, Satellite and Tripping Billies, the Dave Matthews band are touring in support of their latest album, Away From The World, which Rolling Stone named as one of the Top 50 Albums of 2012.

Tickets are on sale now and are available through Computicket and Big Concerts' website.

Ticket prices range from R400-R600 for Cape Town and R400-R675 for Johannesburg.

Dave Matthews Band will be supported by music legend Vusi Mahlasela.
