Cape Town - Chad Saaiman can finally put his hijacking ordeal behind him.
The singer, who was shot in a botched hijacking in Johannesburg in June, has undergone surgery to remove the bullet that was lodged in his abdomen since the incident.
On June 5 Saaiman was shot in the stomach when he tried to escape hijackers on Louis Botha Avenue in Johannesburg.
Saaiman tweeted on Sunday: "Bullet gets removed in the morning...off to bed now.Goodnight World *CS"
The singer underwent surgery at approximately 10:00 on Monday after tweeting: "I want to keep the bullet, and keep it as a memento, then put it in that same cabinet as that SAMA and Grammy I spoke of before."
Chad's brother Lee Saaiman confirmed to Channel24 that he was undergoing surgery at a hospital in the Western Cape.
Bullet out successfully
At approximately 13:00 on Monday Saaiman wrote on his Twitter page: "Bullet out successfully. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. So much love, it's overwhelming sometimes. #roadtorecovery"
Chad is expected to return to Johannesburg within a month or two. He had made the move from Cape Town to Johannesburg just a month before the hijacking, but has spent the last months recovering with family in Cape Town.
