Johannesburg – Belgian singer Dana Winner concluded her South African visit on Tuesday with a fund raiser for the benefit of Child Welfare South Africa (CWSA) and also released her new Christmas album and DVD.
The album and DVD is titled Christmas with Dana Winner and was recorded and filmed in Belgium and will be available at in stores this month.
"The intimate concert, where only five musicians accompanied me, was recorded live," said Winner on Tuesday.
The DVD was filmed in a charming small village of Bokrijk in Belgium, known for its open air museum.
"I have been coming to South Africa often since the mid-nineties. I told Mark (her husband) that one day I would like to live in South Africa for one half of the year and in Belgium for the other half of the year."
Sunny South Africa
According to Winner it is the friendly people and the sunny weather of South Africa that brings her back time and time again.
"Maybe the friendly people have something to do with the weather. In Belgium we have such miserable days in the winter and autumn. The South African sun gives one energy and a zest for life."
On Tuesday afternoon she performed the song Let the Children Have a World along with the orphans of the CWSA at an exclusive tea party.
She misses her dogs and her 12-year-old daughter Chinouk the most when travelling.
