Cape Town – Cape Town rappers Die Antwoord will help visual artist Anton Kannemeyer to open his solo exhibition After the Barbarians in the Jack Shainman Gallery in New York on October 13.
Kannemeyer's new work includes pen and ink drawings, lithographs and two large paintings of Die Antwoord's Yo-Landi Vi$$er and Ninja.
After the opening of the exhibition, Die Antwoord will perform for guests at the Ace Hotel in the Chelsea neighbourhood of Manhattan.
Kannemeyer and Die Antwoord, who have mutual appreciation for each other's work, plan to make a music video together for the group's controversial song Doosdronk - a song that features the voices of Jack Parow and Francois van Coke.
Kannemeyer's latest work is a continuation of the challenging satirical art in his recent books Papa Africa (2010) and The Alphabet of Democracy (2010) .
